Description :
The navigation tablet Nighthawk is a global
assistance system designed specifically for High Altitude
High Opening (HAHO) paratroopers.
Nighthawk was conceived with three purposes
in mind: the preparation, the realization, and the pursuit
of a mission while airborne. It has a patent pending application
on record.
Features
:
Developed around the concept of the realization of the mission,
Nighthawk allows jumpers on alert to prepare
their mission so as to achieve a precision jump.
With the help of a cartographic module
coupled to a GPS and on-the-fly weather data gathering,
Nighthawk provides jumpers with a prospective
course and the actual path taken during the entire descent
as seen on the onboard e-map.
Specifications
:
With a weight of 3kg, Nighthawk is the
lightest and most comprehensive device for jumpers on the
market today.
Nighthawk is the first
device to have been conceived according to the task forces
specifications and designed for both righthanded and lefthanded
jumpers.
Nighthawk is made of a
waterproof and high-density (45kg/m3) shock-resistant foam
case and it is suited with a Polyester carrying bag camo
colored which is attached to the jumper’s rig with
security snap-hooks.
All the necessary devices needed for airborne
navigation are incorporated on the navagation tablet such
as:
· A backlighted and compensated compass,
· A GPS receiver with built-in antenna,
· A ruggedized PocketPC,
· A charger.
· A battery pack.
Essentially, during his entire mission
the user relies on two screens providing redundant and complementary
information for precise navigation, both on the ground and
in the air.
The programmation of the parameters pertaining
to the mission are easily keyed into the system and can
be modified and adjusted in a matter of seconds or just
before jumping so as to optimize the relaxation point.
During the entire operation, the jumper
knows his altitude relative to sea level and the target.
No other additional equipment is necessary
and Nighthawk is obsolescence-proof.
The additional battery provided with Nighthawk
allows for an autonomy of several days for long lasting
missions.
Once the jumper has landed, he can pursue
his mission and keep his equipment fully charged with the
included CIGS’ solar panels.
NightHawk is compatible
with the military GPS PLGR and DAGR receivers.
